Results are placed in our Y-DNA database and when 2 people show the same identical results, we will inform both parties if they have both signed the FTDNA Release Form. Y-DNA37 - 37 Marker Test:
This tests the Y chromosome for genetic matches between males. Results are placed in our Y-DNA database and when 2 people show the same identical or near identical results, we will inform both parties if you have both signed the FTDNA Release Form. A perfect match of 37 markers means that the two individuals matching shared a common ancestor in recent times. The customer receives a Certificate & report generally describing Y-DNA sequencing and the meaning of probability between matches.
Y-DNA67 - 67 Marker Test:
This is one of the highest resolution Y-DNA test in the world. This tests the Y chromosome for genetic matches between males. Results are placed in our Y-DNA database and when 2 people show the same identical or near identical results, we will inform both parties if you have both signed the FTDNA Release Form. A perfect match of 67 markers means a very tight connection: a common ancestor in very recent times. The customer receives a Certificate & report generally describing Y-DNA sequencing and the meaning of probability between matches.
Y-DNA111 - 111 Marker Test:
This test is only for males. Results identify the deep ancestral origin of the paternal line. It includes a panel of 111 Y chromosome Short Tandem Repeat (STR) markers. The large number of markers refine the predicted time period in which two individuals share a common ancestor and help to discern between perfect matches at the 67-marker level. Due to the specialized nature of this test, Y-DNA111 is recommended for individuals interested in proving a close relationship on the direct paternal line. A haplogroup is determined and backed by our SNP Assurance Program. When another person shows similar results within our database, if both parties have signed the Family Tree DNA Release Form, then we will inform them of the match. The customer will be able to download and print a personalized certificate and report describing the testing process. Over time, with the growth of the database and with the scientific advances in this field, the customer will see added information and matches in his personal record, at no additional cost.
Y-DNA37+mtDNAPlus
This is the combination of a male specific Y-chromosome test and a maternal lineage mitochondrial test. A discount is provided for ordering the Y-DNA 37 test and the mtDNAPlus test together for one person. A Y-haplogroup is determined and backed by our SNP Assurance Program. For the mtDNA test, a panel of twenty-two SNPs is included for backbone haplogroup placement. When another person shows identical results within our database, if both parties have signed the Family Tree DNA Release Form, then we will inform them of the match. The customer will also receive a certificate and report describing the testing process and the meaning of thirty-seven marker and mtDNA matches.

This is the mtDNA test that includes the most number of base pairs offered anywhere: 16001 to 16569 and 00001 to 00574, for a total of 1143 base pairs. Results are placed in our mtDNA database and when 2 people show the same identical polymorphism, we will inform both parties if you have both signed the FTDNA Release Form. The customer receives a report generally describing mtDNA, the meaning of polymorphism, your differences from the Cambridge Reference Sequence and the meaning of probability between matches
mtDNA Full Sequence
Please note that due to the current volume of orders this particular test may take up to 60 days to complete. Both men and women may take this test. It exclusively traces the direct maternal line without influence from other lines. This test is for all three regions of the mitochondrial DNA: HVR1(16001-16569), HVR2(00001-00574), and the coding region (00575-16000). The entire mitochondrial genome is tested and this is the last mtDNA test that a person would need to take. A perfect match indicates a common ancestor in recent times. Results identify the ethnic and geographic origin of the maternal line. The customer receives a certificate and report generally describing the testing process and the meaning of matches. Results are placed in our database. When another person shows identical results, if both parties have signed the Family Tree DNA Release Form then we will inform them of the match.
SuperDNA
This is the combination of a male specific Y-chromosome test for the direct paternal line and the full mitochondrial sequence test for the direct maternal line.
